Abstract Machine

Architecture is the reification of the interaction of a series of strata. This studio will investigate the nature and interaction of the following strata:

  • Context

  • Programme

  • Space

  • Enclosure

By critically engaging with this interaction, students are able to generate an armature that facilitates an architectural output. This year, the studio questions the means of spatialisation open and relevant to contemporary British political organisations. It especially asks students to investigate two key terms - “spatialisation” and “political parties”, to define their space within a politically charged framework.
